We travel back in time for this latest World Cup special as John, Grant, Krys and Charlie talk about the tournaments of 2006 and 2010. Scotland, of course, weren’t there thanks to a combination of Berti Vogts and George Burley, despite a Walter Smith revival in the ’06 campaign. Reliving Moldova, Iwelumo’s miss and Boozegate brought back awful memories.
Onto the tournaments themselves, we cover what SPL (as it was then) players featured at the tournament, spectacular opening games, the fall of England’s “golden generation”, the French implosion of 2010, the best kits and goals, getting tore into English referees Graham Poll and Howard Webb, and two finals with acts of thuggery.
Two contrasting tournaments, both full of drama and talking points that helped shape the evolution of VAR. Careful what you wish for!
