We’re kicking off our countdown to the 2026 World Cup by looking back to an era where Scotland were regulars on the world’s greatest stage, qualifying for six out of seven finals between 1974 and 1998. For this episode, John has drafted in entertainer Grant Stott, match announcer Graeme Easton and Famous Tartan Magazine Editor Iain Emerson, all kids in the 70’s, alongside SFF regular Erin who was still in single digits when Scotland were last at the finals. They were tasked with ranking the official (and one unofficial) Scotland World Cup singles and the home kits worn at each of the tournaments.
From Easy Easy to Del Amitri, through Ally’s Army and We Have A Dream to Big Trip to Mexico and Say it With Pride, coupled with the evolution of the Umbro kits, there are varied opinions and great stories from the panel, who also give their views on the ideal World Cup artist(s) for 2026.
We’d also love to hear what you think, so leave your comments, share on Social Media, and let us know what songs make your playlist and the tops you’d be most likely to don come the summer as we look forward to returning to the biggest sporting event on the planet.
